Will Donald Trump be the Next President

Joe Biden and Donald Trump will do battle in the 2024 presidential general election scheduled in November to decide who will occupy the White House for the next four years. In modern history, this contest is considered unique because it is a rematch between the current president and his immediate predecessor. A presidential rematch had last occurred in 1956 and it was in 1892 that there had been a rematch between a current and former president.

The Two Candidates

The Trump campaign aims to distract people from his weaknesses, including his attempts to undermine the results of the 2020 elections, his divisive rhetoric and his legal problems. Trump’s role in the attack on the US Capitol on January 2021 is also an issue.

Nonetheless, Biden has his own share of vulnerabilities. He is struggling to sell the achievements he has made in his first term. Many are of the opinion that he does not have the energy for a second-term. He has painted his rival as a threat to democracy and America, calling him out of control.

Few Americans want this rematch, but at this point, this is the only presidential choice they have. So, who will come out on top? The outcome depends on a variety of factors.

A Close Race

In 2020, Biden was favored over his rival for the entirety of his campaign, but this time, he is facing a rougher road. His approval ratings have been languishing in dangerous territory, considering it is election year. However, Trump also has a negative public perception. Therefore, November general elections are expected to be tight.

As far as National polls are concerned, they either show the candidates neck and neck, or Trump has a slight advantage. It is also a fact that there are a handful of states that will actually decide the race once more. The US uses the Electoral College system to pick its president, which means it depends on the candidates winning in the states. Most states are solidly Republican or Democratic.

Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Georgia and Arizona are the most important states that can go either way. In 2020, Biden had been able to flip the last two in his favor. Democrats are alarmed at the fact that Donald Trump appears to be ahead in polls in these important states, but his lead is not that significant.

The Economy

When it comes to national elections, people usually vote from their wallets. While the economy is growing steadily and is mostly positive, American voters are still grim about their economic situation. This could be due to the high cost of housing and inflation. The fact that home payments have gone up during the Biden administration can hurt his chances. Mr. Trump has already claimed that things were better during his time in the office.

There are other issues that could also play a role in the upcoming presidential race, such as climate change, abortion rights, crime rates and foreign policy. The Gaza War could prove to be a headache for Joe Biden, as some Democrats have criticized the administration’s support for Israel. In addition, a large percentage of young voters have also been angered and their turnout in November could decide the election, thereby benefitting Donald Trump.
